Review | YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat

I love me a new foundation (as if I needed another one) and when I was recently sent this little beauty by the lovely Sophie (aka Private Life of a Girl - if you haven't checked out her blog then I seriously recommend you do), I was suitably excited. I've been after a YSL base for a while but couldn't make a decision between this and their newer release, Youth Liberator. Both have received incredibly positive reviews so I was thrilled to finally get the chance to give one of the foundations a go. Plus, just look how gorgeous that bottle is.

Luckily for me, the shade BD20 suits my pale skin perfectly. I have pretty prominent yellow undertones in my skin which make this light, golden hue the perfect match; not bad considering I hadn't tested it previously. My skin has been looking pretty ok lately (*touches everything wooden in sight*) so I've been looking for a base that will reduce redness whilst giving a light, fresh finish to the skin - something that this delivers pretty damn well. A small pump is all I need to even out my complexion whilst ensuring that my skin still looks like skin. It blurs imperfections, yet it allows my freckles to show through - pretty much all I'm after from a foundation at the moment. I do need to apply an extra dab of concealer around my nose and under eyes when I use this, but I tend to expect that from most foundations anyway.

The formula is easy to blend and leaves my skin looking healthy, not greasy - although I do like to powder my t-zone a little to set everything in place. I have relatively dry/combination skin so those with anything more oily might benefit from testing a sample before splurging on the full size; I can only speculate, but I can imagine this would easily veer towards the shiny side on oilier skin types.

With a massive 22 shades in the range I'd be surprised if you couldn't find one to suit your skin tone perfectly. I've never tried the original Touche Eclat pen, but I'm so glad I gave this a go; it's been my go-to ever since I tore it from it's packaging. A bright, healthy complexion is the holy grail that I'm forever trying to reach at this time of year and, whilst this doesn't perform miracles, I feel as though it takes me one step closer to my goal.
