Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in 'Lychee'

Barry M Gelly Paint in 'Lychee' - £3.99

After years of being loyal to Barry M nail paints all the way through high school I haven't bought any for a really long time now. I ended up owning most of the main shades, but the brand seemed to get a little gimmicky for my liking and new collection releases such as magnetic and textured polish really weren't up my street. I'd stayed clear of the gelly paints as well until now; I love the formula of the original Barry M polishes but I just assumed these would be too thick for my liking. On a recent trip to Superdrug however I caved and picked up the shade 'Lychee' as it had caught my eye so much on other people's blogs.

'Lychee' is a gorgeous nude shade that stays clear of being either too yellow or too pink. A light, creamy beige, I really think it would suit the vast majority of skin tones and it looks lovely against my super pale complexion. Application of the gelly paint was much easier than I thought, although it does take a little bit of work to get an even coverage. Just two thin coats of this is enough for an opaque finish however; something that really impressed me as I tend to find nude shades need a few coats at least. The polish is thick, but not so thick that it becomes difficult to work with and you get a super glossy result as promised - I like to add a topcoat anyway just to seal in the polish but you really wouldn't need it if you didn't want to or didn't have time. The shade range of these isn't massive but that's to be expected with a high street brand, plus I know they'll be launching 5 brand new summer shades over the next few weeks. I'd definitely buy more of these however and have my eye on 'Blood Orange' next - what shades in the range would you recommend?
