My Spring Nail Picks!

(From L-R) Essie 'Lilacism', Essie 'Not Just A Pretty Face', Barry M 'Mint Green', Nails Inc 'Hobart Place', Essie 'Bikini So Teeny', Sinful Colors 'Easy Going'

I mentioned in my March Favourites video (watch that here) that I'm a sucker when it comes to matching my nail polish choices to the seasons. All through March I was stuck with the same dark shades I wore through winter but now that the weather's started to pick up a bit I've enjoyed digging out a few more summery favourites. A mixture of brights and pastel shades are on the bill this year so I thought I'd share with you my ultimate picks!

Essie 'Lilacism' (swatch here) - this recent addition to my nail polish collection has quickly become my go-to shade. An opaque lilac creme, it's an ideal shade for warmer weather and is an absolute dream to apply. Three coats of this gives a gorgeous finish but you can always stick with two for a slightly more sheer finish.

Essie 'Not Just a Pretty Face' (swatch here) - I'm usually not a fan of sheer nail polish but this is one that I make an exception for. A subtle nude with a hint of pink, it's the ideal shade to be built up coat by coat. I usually apply two or three layers of this for a semi-opaque finish.

Barry M 'Mint Green' - you can probably tell from the look of the bottle that this is one of my most used shades - it really is about time I invested in another one if I'm honest! Barry M are by far my favourite brand when it comes to cheaper nail varnish; the formula is so much like a higher end brand and the colour range is endless. 'Mint Green' does exactly what it says on the tin and isn't too bright whilst still looking noticeable.

Nails Inc 'Hobart Place' - this is my favourite Nails Inc shade of all the ones I own. It doesn't tend to photograph very well but in reality it's a super creamy orange-based peach that is just on the right side of being 'too bright'.

Essie 'Bikini So Teeny' (swatch here) - this Essie shade has become somewhat of a cult in the blogosphere. A soft cornflour blue with the tiniest hint of shimmer, I can see why this shade is so popular! I own far too many blue shades for my own good but this is my most used and has such a gorgeous formula. Two coats of this and I'm good to go!

Sinful Colors 'Easy Going' (swatch here) - I wrote a bit of a crappy review on this but I think I've just about perfected a way of applying it in as thin a coat as possible and building it up bit by bit. The shade is an almost identical dupe for Essie's 'Fiji' and although I don't favour the formula very much, for £1.99 you can't go too far wrong.
