Beauty UK Blush

Beauty UK Blush in 'Royal Rose' - £4.99

Beauty UK are a brand that to be perfectly honest I know very little about. I've passed by their stand in Superdrug so many times but have always just assumed it was another one of those cheap cosmetics brands they stock and they wouldn't have anything all that different to offer, so I walked on without a second thought. Recently though I found myself in Superdrug one lunchtime when I had a bit of time to kill and my eye was caught by a row of baked blushers on the shelf. I absolutely love baked powders for their ease of use, luminous colour and just how pretty they look in the pan (sad, I know...) but I always assumed it was only more high end brands that had been caught by the baked compact bug, how wrong was I!

The baked blushes come in a range of 5 shades. I picked 'Royal Rose' as I've been after a more vibrant pink blush for a while now and thought it was a good place to begin rather than splurging on my lust item MAC 'Dollymix' straight away. Although 5 shades doesn't seem like a huge amount the range of colours is actually pretty impressive, from the bright pink of 'Candy Shop' to the subtle beige of 'Peaches and Cream'.

I apply this after my highlighter using my Real Techniques Contour Brush. Using the cheesy grin method I dust a light coat of this across the apples of my cheeks once or twice, depending on how noticeable I want the colour to be. As this is a baked blusher it's hard to go overboard which is perfect for me as I was a little nervous about trying such a vibrant shade! The formula is light and easy to build and using this brings a healthy flush of colour to my cheeks without giving that dreaded 'powdery' effect. The pigmentation of this is pretty average but at under a fiver I don't think you can complain! As I have really fair skin I manage to get away with just one or two layers of this to achieve a subtle, flushed effect - although those with darker skins may find that need to build it up a little more in order to make it noticeable.

Overall I'm really impressed with this and the rosey shade is definitely flattering for my skintone. The blush is easy to apply, sheer and has a lovely glow about it without there being any real signs of shimmer. This is so far the only product I own from the Beauty UK range but I'm definitely on the lookout for more; I have a feeling one of their lipsticks will be next on my list!
