Topshop 'Crescent Moon' Highlighter

Topshop Highlighter in 'Crescent Moon' - £10

For me this product marks two 'firsts' for me; the first powder highlighter I ever bought and the first thing from Topshop's make up range I ever purchased too. I've never been one to use much product on my cheeks and while I've been interested in getting a bit more of a glow to my skin I've always stuck to liquid or stick highlighters up until now. It's also no secret that I've always been a little bit sceptical about Topshop cosmetics despite hearing so many good things about them; for whatever reason I just can't get used to the idea of a brand so well known for their clothing range suddenly branching out into the world of make up and actually making a success of it. I finally took the plunge and went ahead with this though and I'm really pleased I did!

First things first; the packaging. In true Topshop style the packaging for this is simple but stylish and surprisingly good quality; the black box it comes in reminds me a lot of the way that MAC package their powders. Upon first look Crescent Moon did seem a little bit daunting to me. The powder itself is an almost yellow-peach which looked really strange against my fair skin in the harsh light of the shop floor but I find it's fine once applied properly. I apply this with my Real Techniques Powder Brush and sweep it gently across my cheeks and down the middle of my nose. It adds a really subtle shimmer that warms up my complexion nicely; something which I especially look for in the winter months as my skin has a tendency to appear a little dull and jaded. The best thing about this is that it isn't 'glittery' at all; something that really puts me off a lot of highlighters as I don't like the look of sparkle on my face. This adds that hint of radiance to the skin without being over the top; something that will especially appeal to those with fairer skin tones like mine.

They don't seem to be selling this online at the moment but I've seen it in most Topshop stores recently so I assume it's just out of stock on their website for now. As I say I'm really impressed with this and am planning to take another trip to the Topshop make up section sometime this week so I'll see what tickles my fancy when I'm there! I've heard great things about their lipsticks so I'm hoping to give one of those a go next.
