MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Review

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Light) - £21

MAC is one of those cosmetics brands that I've always wanted to try but have never actually got around to it. I've heard so many great things about Mineralize Skinfinish and although I haven't purchased any powder for years I thought this would be the perfect product to try out before I invest some more in the brand.

Mineralize Skinfinish is branded as 'a luxurious velvet-soft powder' and it was the mineral aspect that initially drew me in. Through my early teens I was a huge face powder addict but as I've got older my skin's become drier and I've found that I don't really need it to combat oiliness as much - if at all. However the one thing I used to love about powder was its ability to help my make up stay in place all day, which is what drew me to this product to begin with.

First things first, the packaging of this product is pretty average but it serves its purpose well enough. I know some people would have preferred an applicator and/or mirror to be included in the compact but I'm not a fan of touching my face up throughout the day so for me this wasn't really a huge problem. I bought the powder in the shade 'light' and found it to be perfect for my skintone; the colour matches so well that it could almost pass as being a translucent powder but it still gives a subtle hint of extra colour and coverage. The powder doesn't cling to dry patches (hallelujah!) and so far hasn't had any negative effect on my skin at all really. In fact for a powder it works extremely well at giving me a natural, healthy matte finish as opposed to leaving my face in a patchy mess!

(Excuse the dodgy webcam picture - I'm moving from house to house a lot at the moment so a good quality camera isn't always on hand!)

I can definitely see this product becoming a make up bag staple. After so long of refusing to put powder anywhere near my face I'm so pleased that I've finally come across one that sets my make up in place all day without clinging to any dry patches of skin or making me look overly 'made-up'. The colour match is perfect for me and it removes any trace of shine/oil from my skin whilst still leaving me with a slight glow. I only need a tiny amount every day so for me it's definitely worth the price.

Since I bought this I've also invested in MAC eyeliner and MAC foundation (reviews of both to come!) so this product has definitely converted me.
