My Current Makeup Routine
I'm forever switching between light, barely-there bases and something that offers full on coverage. At the moment I'm all about the former, and La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo+ Unifiant Light* couldn't have come at a better time. I've mentioned the original treatment countless times before and my skin seems to love this just as much. It has the exact same texture and scent as Effaclar Duo+, but contains just enough pigment to cancel out any redness or discolouration.
Concealer is the one step in my routine that has me struggling to stay faithful to one product. I'm still making my way through Armani's High Precision Retouch, although more often than not I find myself reaching for the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer instead. Neither product blows me away, yet they're both good enough to stop me rushing to buy something else. Any persistent scarring is covered with the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, although (touch wood) it isn't something I reach for every day.
I'm still setting everything down with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light. I'm on my third compact now and I'm still infatuated with it, in fact I genuinely miss it when I don't use it. Bronzer is my saviour at the moment and is the only thing that makes me look half alive. I'll either use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze or Stila's Convertible Colour in Marigold. The latter is probably my favourite of the two but I'm slightly reluctant to admit it due to the £30 price difference.
At this point I usually call it a day with my face and move onto the eyes. Contouring has never made it into my daily routine and my eyebrows are entirely dependent on how long it's been since I tinted them. I have naturally thick, heavy brows so keeping up with treatments usually reduces the need for any product massively. If they could do with a little extra TLC, I'm yet to find anything better than the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade paired with the MAC 266 Brush. It's a combination that allows me to make tiny, hair-like strokes with very little effort at all.
Next, I'll pack the MAC Prolongwear Paint Pot in Groundwork onto my eyelids and blend with a fluffy brush. Whether I'm heading to the office or for an evening out, you can pretty much guarantee I'll be wearing this. It's the most flattering, versatile colour and takes very little time to get right, in fact it often looks better with a slightly messy, grungy finish. Lashes are coated in the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara - as many coats as I can be bothered with, which is usually limited to one or two these days.
Lips have always been a bit of an afterthought for me. Often I wont wear anything, and even when I do it's a shade that's as close to my natural lip colour as possible. The shape and size of my lips have always been a real sticking point for me, so I tend to play them down as much as possible. At the moment I'm really enjoying the using the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in the shade Stockholm. It's a light, coral toned nude that works really well when everything else is equally as pared down.
