Grown Alchemist | Deep Cleansing Masque with Wheatgerm, Gingko + Cranberry
Grown Alchemist are an entirely new brand to me. Admittedly it was the branding that caught my eye over everything else, who could resist blush pink and black packaging? I've been on the hunt for something to treat my congested, blemish-prone skin ever since I ran out of the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (really nice, but over time it became a little too harsh for my sensitive skin).
The Grown Alchemist Deep Cleansing Masque is very much your typical, clay-based mask. Applied generously to clean, dry skin, it mattifies over 10 minutes and can be easily rinsed off with warm water. It's a rich, creamy paste that feels incredibly gentle on the skin, even with regular use. The first time I used it, I woke up the following morning with skin that felt smooth and refreshed, but I also had a significant amount of lingering blemishes that had finally been pulled up to the surface of the skin. Gross as it sounds, I was actually really pleased that the mask had relieved congestion and finally tackled the painful, under-the-skin blemishes that I hadn't managed to reach before. Since then I've noticed a visible difference in my skin and have been enjoying a cleaner, fresher looking complexion in general.
I apply the mask once a week and haven't found it to irritate my sensitive skin at all. The whole process is quick and easy, although I'd recommend using a rich moisturiser following treatment as clay masks do have a tendency to dehydrate the skin. If you're in the market for a clay-based mask that's gentle enough for regular use, I'd definitely recommend looking into this one.
