The Makeup I Wear Every Day

estee lauder sumptuous extreme mascara review

Ask me what my most loved beauty brand is and for some reason Estée Lauder doesn't immediately spring to mind, yet I'm using more of their products in my daily routine at the moment that any other brand. It's a very rare occasion that I wear foundation these days, although when I do it's usually the original Double Wear formula or, failing that, Double Wear Light. Instead I've been more commonly dabbing a little concealer here and there where I need it, before dusting my t zone with a powder in order to set everything down and even out the skintone. My weapon of choice is the Double Wear Concealer (once again from Estée Lauder) and my beloved Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light. I bought it following all the hype a few years ago and still haven't felt the desire to move on to anything else. I use Urban Decay's Naked Skin Concealer over any particularly dry patches or for touch ups on the go.

After years of shunning bronzer I'm officially a convert of the stuff. For powder it has to be the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze, whereas the Stila Convertible Colour in Marigold is still the best cream formula that I've found.

I entered 2017 with an entirely different outlook on beauty to the one I've had over the past few years. I still have a fascinating with cosmetics and am sure I will for years to come, but I'm definitely not as eager to expand my collection as I once was - nor am I interested in trying anything new once I've found a product that I love.

nars black valley eye paint liner review

I'm trying to make more of a point of defining my eyes, either with a small catflick or lashings of brown liner smudged into the top and bottom lashlines. I love MAC eye pencils for the latter, particularly in the shades Coffee and Teddy. They're one of the easiest formulas to manipulate and have a tendency to last a really long time, too.

It's a rare occasion that I complete a cat-eye flick without desperately trying to scrub it all off again in despair, yet the NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley has made the job at least a little bit easier. It's a jet black formula that stays in place all day and glides flawlessly across the skin - I've been pairing it with the Make Up Forever Extra Fine Eyeliner Brush and lashings of the Estèe Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara. It's the first non-waterproof formula that I've used for years and I've been completely blown away by its staying power and ability to hold a curl.
