Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colour in Pink Rose

The Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colour's have been on my radar for a long time now, with the shade Rosy doing the rounds more than most. As an advocate for all things sheer on the lips I finally cracked and decided to give them a go for myself, although the aforementioned shade didn't look entirely up my street. Instead I opted for the similarly named Pink Rose; a blue toned, plummy pink.

The formula of these really is their main selling point, although if you're after a truly sheer lip then you're most definitely in the wrong place. The lip colours are incredibly creamy and glide onto the lips with ease, although the pigmentation initially surprised me. Far from being overly sheer, these pack a pretty hefty punch of colour without looking too heavy or 'done' when applied. That said, the easy to wear, long lasting formula means that they're on to a real winner - even with somebody as scared of wearing colour on the lips as I am. I tend to blot a little of the colour away with my finger once it's been applied in order to slightly mattify the finish, but other than that I can honestly say that this is the first colourful lipstick that I've ever truly felt comfortable in. The staying power is another huge plus point; fast forward a day in the city and a spot of lunch and the colour remains intact, having progressed to a subtle, even stain.

The colour itself may look a little mature in the bullet, but once it's applied I really do fall in love. I'm not a huge fan of brighter, bolder pinks as I find they just don't suit my complexion and tend to look a little too young on me, so the grown up vibe that this gives off is definitely more up my street. Even so, I don't think it looks too mature either, but I'll let you be the judge of that...

I'm so impressed with the formula and shade of this that I can't wait to get more. I'm not a huge lipstick advocate and very rarely spend a little extra on lip colour, but this was definitely worth the splurge. My craving for high end lip options has been triggered; and this can only end badly.
