Review | Loreal Lumi Magique Foundation

This foundation has been knocking around in my makeup drawer for months now and I've only recently gotten around to giving it a go. Now that the weather finally seems to be looking up, I was shopping the stash for a lightweight foundation that would give my skin that summer glow whilst still covering any redness. 'Lumi Magique' apparently uses 'light infusing technology' (as far as I can tell they just stick a little bit of shimmer in the formula) and promises to give the skin a flawlessly radiant finish.

I picked up the shade 'Rose Porcelain' which I think is the lightest in the range, although it isn't particularly pale and has fairly strong pink undertones. I decided to give it a go anyway and I found that once I blended the foundation into the skin I could just about get away with it, although I might not be so lucky come winter! The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a rose gold lid, making it feel super luxurious and much more like a high end option. I apply it using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and I'm fairly impressed with how easily it blends and leaves a pretty much flawless finish. It gives a glow without being too 'shimmery', although a reasonable amount of shimmer can be detected in the sunlight. I wouldn't usually mind, but my boyfriend did refer to it as making my skin look a little 'sweaty' - definitely not the look I was going for! I was also a little disappointed by the longevity of this; I did apply a little powder over the top which I don't usually like doing in summer but I found that it still disappeared from my skin pretty quickly. The weather has been hot though so I'll let it off a little as I think any foundation would struggle!

Overall I'm quite happy to use this when the weather is a bit warmer and I generally like the glow it gives my skin. Sometimes however it can look a little OTT - I'd recommend Rimmel's 'Wake Me Up' if you're searching for a radiance boosting foundation that doesn't give too much shimmer and wont break the bank. I'll probably use this on and off as I like the coverage it gives but I'm not certain that I'll buy another bottle once this one runs out.
