Forever Repurchase: Makeup Edition

The third and final part of my Forever Repurchase series focuses on makeup (you can find the skincare edition here and the haircare edition here). I always used to be the kind of gal that found a product that worked and stuck to it; that was until I became interested in beauty blogs. Gone are the days when I'd avidly repurchase Revlon Colourstay Foundation and the same old Bourjois mascara every time I took a trip to Boots - now it's all about variety and trying something new. That's exactly what made this edition of the series so difficult, there really are very few products that I'm dedicated to and wouldn't toss aside in favour of something new given the opportunity. I do however have a (short) list of products that I just can't imagine my life without and can see myself always coming back to, even if I have 30 other options in the drawer!

Foundation is something that I flit between incredibly easily as the formula, texture and finish I choose depends entirely on how my skin is looking that morning and what I feel it needs. One option that I can't imagine not having by my side however is Estee Lauder Double Wear. I have this in the shade '2N2 Fresco' and it's my go-to on days when my skin is horrifyingly bad (more often than you'd probably imagine). It's the perfect base for days when nothing but full on coverage and incredible lasting power will do. This was the first high end foundation I ever bought and the only one I've repurchased which definitely says something! My favourite way to apply foundation is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - another product that I just can't see myself managing to do without. Whilst the Buffing Brush gets the most attention in terms of applying a flawless base, I find that the higher density of the EF brush works best for me and it always leaves a soft, streak-free finish no matter what I use with it.

In terms of mascara I definitely feel I've found my holy grail in Benefit They're Real. A jet-black option that defines, lengthens and volumises all at once, this stuff gets raved about in the blogosphere and rightly so. I have a few other mascaras in my collection but none are used anywhere near as much as this. My only gripe is that it does dry out quite quickly, meaning that a repurchase is often on the cards a little sooner than I'd like it to be. Other than that though I can't say anything bad about it and it will remain in my collection for a long time to come!

Lastly is MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, mine being in the shade 'Light'. Pans of this last me forever but I still like to have more than one in my makeup bag just in case. I use it to set my makeup but it's one of the few powders I've ever used that doesn't leave my face looking or feeling cakey, in fact it does the opposite and makes everything look like skin again! It's had mixed reviews but I don't feel as though I can fault it - especially as this and a powder puff are perfect for touch ups during the day.
