Review | Perricone Chia Serum

The demise of the latest bottle of my beloved ANR has been on the cards for a while now and after massaging the last dregs of the stuff into my tear-ridden cheeks I was pretty happy when a new wonder serum entered into my skincare realms. Dr Perricone is a world renowned skincare specialist, particularly well known for his work on delaying the process of aging skin. At 19 it's safe to say that I don't have too many wrinkles deep enough to cause concern, but I'm a firm believer that it's never too early to start protecting your skin from the elements! With rare extracts from the Chia seed, this stuff is packed full of fatty acids that promise to keep the skin looking youthful, radiant and healthy.

This has more of a liquid texture to most other serums I've tried; in fact I'd liken it more to a facial oil but without the greasy feeling they can leave behind. Golden in colour and with a pretty almond scent, this is a really lovely product to use and isn't at all overpowering at any time of day. In fact I use it in multiple ways, something which can't be said for any other serum I've used before. At night time I enjoy mixing this with my regular moisturizer (currently Benefit Total Moisture, full review here) for an extra boost of hydration. I've tried using it neat as the last step in my bedtime routine too and I find that works wonders as well, I just prefer to mix it with other products as I feel it saves me some time! When mixed in with my day cream in the morning this also adds an instant glow. I have dry skin so any product that boosts hydration levels and perks my complexion up a little is a godsend for me! This is deeply nourishing without feeling too heavy on my skin, making it perfect for use both at night and in the daytime.

The other suggested way of using this is as a final step in your makeup routine, something that I was initially a little wary about but I decided to give it a go anyway. Something about using a serum on top of makeup left me imagining my skin would look like an oil slick but this honestly is light enough to do the job perfectly. It works a lot like a setting spray in that it makes my skin look like 'skin' again; adding a healthy glow and making everything look natural without being too over the top.

Since I began using this my skin is definitely retaining more moisture than it used to. 2 drops is all I need to add some life to my dull complexion first thing in the morning, yet it still makes an ideal addition to my nighttime routine as my skin benefits from the extra moisture boost. I can't comment on how well it tackles wrinkles or ageing skin, but I can definitely notice an improvement in my skin's texture and overall appearance since I added this to my skincare stash. Ā£60 is a lot to ask for just 30ml of product so I do like to use it sparingly, but over the past fortnight I'm still on my first dropper of product and I can see it lasting me ages.
