Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' Foundation

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 'True Ivory' - £8.99

Most of you have probably worked out by now that I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to base products. If I'm honest I can't even remember the last time I purchased a foundation from the high street; terrible but true! For years I was a massive lover of high street beauty but after I made my first ever Estee Lauder buy I never really looked back. 'Wake Me Up' however has been an exception to the rule. I first heard about it through blogging (as I do with most things!) and it seemed to get pretty overwhelming reviews so I decided to give it a go.

Any product that promises to give the illusion of a more awake, fresh complexion instantly draws me in. I don't know if it's because I have such fair skin but I really struggle to get my skin looking healthy and glowing. At first I was a little concious that this foundation may be a little too shimmery as when I tried it out on my hand it did look a little bit sparkly for my liking, but I don't find that this is a problem at all once the product is properly applied and buffed into the skin.

The coverage of this is light-medium which suits me fine as my skin is looking a little better and is beginning to stop being so blemish prone (touch wood!) I usually head straight for full coverage foundations that provide a matte or semi-matte finish, but this has made a really welcome change to my make up routine as it provides me with a more radiant looking complexion. 'True Ivory' was the lightest shade I could find in-store and it's still a little dark for me which is a shame, but I feel like I can just about get away with it! The foundation glides onto the skin incredibly easily and isn't too fast drying; leaving enough time to create an even level of coverage. I do find that I need to dab some concealer onto any imperfections after using this but it doesn't really bother me at all; I love not feeling as if I have to layer on a mask of heavy make up every morning to make myself look presentable!

I'm so pleasantly surprised with this and it has definitely become my go-to foundation for better skin days. If you're looking for full-on coverage this perhaps wont be for you, but I love having it as part of my foundation collection as it's such an easy, reliable option for everyday wear. The packaging is amazingly good quality for the price; it contains vitamins to give the skin a softer, smoother feel and it keeps my skin well hydrated all day without oxidising; what more could you ask for?

P.S - I actually picked up my bottle from Savers for £4.98 (all Rimmel products are under a fiver) so I recommend giving your local store a try to save some $$$.
