Fragrance is probably the section of my beauty collection that I have the least affinity with. While I can definitely appreciate a nice scent, choosing perfume just isn't something that I've ever been particularly excited by. Instead, over time I've built up a no frills, capsule selection that provides a fragrance for pretty much any occasion.
Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt
Ambrette seeds, sea salt and sage
I don't find Jo Malone fragrances to be the most long lasting, but the scents themselves are pretty much unrivalled. Wood Sage & Sea Salt is a classic summer fragrance and works really well if topped up once or twice through the day.
Paco Rabanne Olympéa*
Green mandarin, salty vanilla, cashmere wood and ginger lily
It's always a risk when you receive a new fragrance that you've not had the chance to test before, but I was so pleasantly surprised with this one. It's a soft, oriental scent that feels warm and comforting. I can imagine this being a great year-round fragrance and one that will wear just as well in the colder months as the summer.
Kiehl's Orange Flower & Lychee
Orange flower, lychee, honey and moroccan rose
This is a relatively recent obsession of mine, but it smells just beautiful. Although Kiehl's aren't a brand that I'd initially associate with fragrance, I find them to be surprisingly long lasting and this scent in particular is perfect if you're after something fresh, light and summery.
Tom Ford Black Orchid*
Black truffle, bergamot, lotus wood, black currant and vanilla
If you're into dark, masculine scents then this is a great option. It packs a potent punch that isn't for the faint hearted, but if you love it as much as I do then you can rest safely in the knowledge that the scent will linger all day. I'm generally drawn to rich, woody fragrances and this one has become my go-to.
Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin
Mandarin, basil and amberwood
Another beautiful scent, but again I just wish it lasted a little longer. I actually have a sample size of this too that I keep in my handbag for top ups. It's fruity and fresh, with a peppery twist that allows it to become a great unisex option.
Peony, fresh citrus, sandalwood and rose
I'm not typically into floral scents, but this one holds enough sentimental value to keep it a staple in my collection. It's not as sickly sweet as many of the others I've tried and is rich enough to make a great winter fragrance if florals are your thing.
