Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder: So, I Caved...

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder: So, I Caved...

Do I really need to go into any detail explaining the allure of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders? Their appeal has the blogging world whipped into a micro frenzy and as soon as you go and swatch one for yourself it's easy to see why. As it turns out, that was the mistake I made. A few weeks (and a hell of a lot of subtle hints to my boyfriend) later, one of these was packaged up and subsequently torn into on my birthday.

Believe it or not I'd actually made a conscious effort to steer well clear of the hype surrounding these. I don't live anywhere near a Space NK, so - since swatches were going to be almost impossible - I didn't want to part with so much cash on a product that I couldn't be completely sure about. There's no doubting that the powders are expensive, but they join a very small legion of products that I do think are entirely worth it (well, almost). The have a velvety smooth texture that glides over the skin and provides a slightly luminous finish without a hint of glitter in sight. I have the shade 'Diffused Light', which has subtle yellow undertones that also help to diminish any redness. Don't get me wrong; £38 is more than I'll be spending on another product like this any time soon, but they really do provide just that little touch of luxury to your makeup bag (and a soft focus complexion while they're at it).
